Verified Credentials and Background
All Reality-Based Combatives and Defensive Tactics Close Combat instructors must possess verifiable credentials that demonstrate their training, qualifications, and field experience. This includes attending and completing recognized exponent and instructor certification courses. Depending on the country and service background, proof of qualification, rank, and status will vary, but there must always be a documented paper trail reflecting their history of service and instructor qualifications in close combat.
Unlike martial arts, combat sports, or general fitness qualifications, which focus on competition or recreational practice, the role of a Reality-Based Combatives instructor requires mastery of the practical science of modern combat and defensive tactics. Qualifications in unrelated disciplines, such as sports or traditional martial arts, are not relevant in this context. Instead, a Reality-Based Combatives instructor must demonstrate proficiency and experience directly tied to real-world defensive applications.

We are thrilled to introduce the Instructor Certification Program (I.C.P.), an exclusive initiative designed to empower instructors with advanced training and official recognition within the Dark Gift Combat Fighting System (D.G.C.F.S.) and Apex Tactical Institute (A.T.I.). This specialized program offers a unique opportunity for instructors to master a comprehensive range of skills and techniques, equipping them to excel as leaders in reality-based combatives and tactical training.

Exclusive Enrollment
The I.C.P. is intentionally limited to a select group of 273 instructors in the United States and 100 instructors internationally, ensuring that certified individuals are part of an elite and distinguished network. Participants who successfully complete the program will be officially recognized as certified instructors, enhancing their credibility and visibility in the global combatives community.
Program Costs and Benefits
To foster a culture of continuous learning, I.C.P. members are required to pay a monthly fee of $100, which covers ongoing training directly with Mr. Traylor and A.T.I. at no additional cost. This ensures instructors remain up-to-date with the latest techniques, methodologies, and advancements in the field.
The initial I.C.P. certification fee is $2,000, which includes an intensive three-day training session with Mr. Traylor and A.T.I. Upon completion, certified instructors will:

The 5 major disciplines are:
1) Hand 2 Hand 2) Edge weapon 3) Firearm 4) Stick 5) Ground Combatives
Strategic Apprentice Instructor.
Phase 1: Qualified to instruct Level 1 of the H2H discipline.
Phase 2: Qualified to instruct Level 2 & 3 of the H2H discipline. IF has completed the H2H discipline.
Strategic Instructor Phase 1.
has completed the H2H discipline. plus Level 1 of whatever Discipline he/she chose’s I.E. ground or stick ect.
Strategic Instructor Phase 2.
has completed the H2H discipline. plus Level 2 & 3 of whatever Discipline he/she chose’s I.E. ground or stick ect.
Tactical Instructor Phase 1.
has completed 2 disciplines one being the H2H discipline, the other whatever Discipline he/she chose’s i.e. edge weapon, stick ect. Plus the 3rd discipline a level 1.
Tactical Instructor Phase 2.
Tactical Instructor Phase 2.Instructor must have completed 3 out the 5 disciplines and must be a level 2 in the other 2 disciplines.
Tactical Instructor Phase 3.
Tactical Instructor Phase 3.Instructor must have completed 4 out the 5 disciplines and must be a level 2 in the other 2 disciplines
Operational Instructor
Instructor can instruct in the 5 major disciplines and is a Full instructor in all 5 of the major disciplines. As long he or she has completed the 5 major disciplines.
please note: they are some sub categories in each discipline. i.e.
A) Path of the defending blade,
B) path of the invading blade,
C) Spontaneous edge weapon response.
Night Stalkers.
is the elite of A.T.I. & D.G.C.F.S. It is the highest level of instructor. BUT it is by invitation only!! The instructor must show exemplary ability and loyalty to D.G.C.F.S. NIGHT STALKERS are also the elite OPFOR TEAM. Night Stalkers are required to meet and train 2 times a month for Tactical firearms, urban survival ect..ect…
Once an I.C.P. reaches this level IF he or she is out of state or to far to travel He or She must come 2 times a year and be team lead of OPFOR TEAM for that area or state.
